Collins & Jones officially announced its presence in Kansas this week with the opening of a new office in Overland Park, Kansas. This office, located at 12980 Metcalf Avenue, Suite 100, will allow Collins & Jones to better serve the needs of its clients on both sides of the state line.
“I am pleased that Collins & Jones has furthered its strong legal presence in Kansas with the opening of our new office,” said Eric Collins, partner at Collins & Jones. “We look forward to providing the same, high quality legal services that our clients have always enjoyed throughout the state of Kansas.”
The Kansas office will be led by senior attorney Jeff King. Mr. King is an experienced trial advocate who represents clients in a wide array of business, financial, trust and appellate disputes. He has served as trial counsel for multi-million dollar federal cases in California, Texas, Ohio, Kansas and Missouri, having secured an over $4 million jury verdict against one of the world’s largest companies. Mr. King’s state-court experience is equally robust, including serving as lead counsel for two of the largest trustee removal lawsuits in Kansas and Missouri. Mr. King has represented dozens of clients in state and federal appeals before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Circuit as well as Missouri and Kansas appellate courts.
Additionally, Mr. King brings substantial experience in dealing with governments of all sizes. He served for 10 years in the Kansas Legislature, most recently as the Vice President of the Kansas Senate and Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator King was instrumental in civil and criminal code reform and was the architect of the new Kansas pension plan. Senator King received numerous accolades for these efforts, including awards from the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
“Jeff King is on the cutting edge of law and government in Kansas,” said Josh Jones, partner at Collins & Jones. “His combination of government, trial and appellate skills will give our clients a persuasive voice for all of their Kansas needs.”
Mr. King graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with degrees in international relations and economics. He also holds a Masters Degree in Agriculture Economics from University of Cambridge and a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School. He is a former law clerk for then-Chief Judge Deanell Reece Tacha on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and is past president and co-founder of the appellate section of the Kansas Bar Association.
